I spend hours researching fashion history for inspiration.....it never ceases to amaze me the lovely examples of fine workmanship that I continue to discover. I have such admiration for the hands that fashioned these lovely pieces, most of which must have been made entirely by hand. I remember my Fashion History classes and my amazing instructor, Dr. Frank. She saw to it that we understood the evolution of fashions.....not just for their aesthetic interest, but also for their necessity....the reasons for the styles of the time and the materials that were available during the period. Oh if I were only able to produce a piece with such intricate detail! I have no doubt that this was a handmade peignoir set enjoyed by a very fortunate lady. When I run across lovely images like this I am inspired to dive into my lace and fabric stash, pull out the needle and thread, and see what I can create!
