I spend hours researching fashion history for inspiration.....it never ceases to amaze me the lovely examples of fine workmanship that I continue to discover. I have such admiration for the hands that fashioned these lovely pieces, most of which must have been made entirely by hand. I remember my Fashion History classes and my amazing instructor, Dr. Frank. She saw to it that we understood the evolution of fashions.....not just for their aesthetic interest, but also for their necessity....the reasons for the styles of the time and the materials that were available during the period. If it is vintage...and it "inspires"me....then I usually have to stop everything for a few hours and let my creative juices flow! That is what I mean by "I can't help myself!"
